Growing up in the Caribbean, summertime for me was filled with beach cookouts, nature walks, building projects--one summer we built a rickety clubhouse made of discarded wood and galvanized roof sheeting--climbing the neighbor’s tree to pick fruit, hopscotch, jump rope, and of course…reading!
