National Hispanic Heritage Month - 2021

Sonya Sotomayor

“It is important for all of us to appreciate where we come from and how that history has really shaped us in ways that we might not understand.” - Sonya Sotomayor

In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, we are excited to spotlight Sonia Sotomayor, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Born in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents, Sonia faced many challenges on the road to becoming the first Hispanic (and one of four

women) to serve on the Supreme Court. During the 2021 U.S. Presidential Inauguration, Justice Sonia Sotomayor was selected to swear in Kamala Harris—the first female and woman of color—as vice president of the United States of America.
